Every December, Georgia Aquarium hosts a month-long event where patrons can bring their families to celebrate the holidays with seasonal shows, daily tree lightings, and even pictures with a certain red-suited Elf.

Animation felt like the smartest solution to include specific Aquarium animals while also feeling nostalgic. I kept looking until I finally found inspiration in yet another classic, but not typically a holiday film, Monsters Inc. Not the movie itself, but the opening sequence. I immediately saw all the creatures stirring in the Aquarium. This was nostalgic and had perspective: mid-century holiday cards, Saul Bass movie posters, and iconic movie opening/closing sequences.
Each major keyframe was storyboarded in multiple phases to iterate on character art and to provide clear communication during creative reviews.
